AFIRRD is a non-government organization that promotes activities that conform to the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE). According to the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (TFSSE) report of 2014, SSE “holds considerable promise for addressing the economic, social and environmental objectives and integrated approaches inherent in the concept of sustainable development.”
In essence, SSE have been identified as a development model that will enhance the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals of 2015-2030. For that reason, AFIRRD positions itself in the right development strategy as it makes interventions in development areas such as Skills promotions, women support, environment concerns, which all conform to some of the 17 SDGs as spelt out by UN.
